training To become a fire fighter you have to have a highschool diploma, education after high school is preferred. To become a fire fighter you must past written and physical tests. After being hired you go through training. Completion of community college courses, or an associate degree in fire science can improve your chance for the job. Some colleges and communities offer a 2-4 year degree in fire science.

trainingIn training they train for several weeks at the department's training center or academy. There the recruits study fire techniques, fire prevention, hazardous material control, local building codes, and emergency medical procedures, including first aid and CPR. They also learn how to use axes, chain saws, fire extinguishers, ladders and other fire fighting equipment.

trainingAfter successfully completing this training, the recruits are assigned to a fire company, where they are put on probation for a period of time. graduation
