CAREER BENEFITS

The New York Police Department administers promotional exams for each rank above police officer every two-to-three years. One-in-six uniformed personnel of the department are Detectives. A Detective (3rd Grade) earns an average annual income of $100,000. Said salary includes base salary, average overtime and night shift differential, holiday pay and uniform allowance.
