Other info: Halloween was an independent film by John Carpenter and produced by Debra Hill on a $350,000 budget. John Carpenter was sought out by producer Irwin Yablans, and financier Moustapha Akkad. Yablans and Akkad were impressed with Carpenter's work on Assault on Precinct 13 which was the reason for them wanting Carpenter to direct a movie about a psychotic serial killer who stalked babysitters. Hence the movie, Halloween.
